Husband Refused To Be Present For Childbirth Due To Office Work

Childbirth is the most important day for the parents-to-be. But seemingly, a man refused to be at the birth of their first child. He had a work trip which he wasn’t ready to miss. The wife had scheduled a C-section on Sunday. The husband without any concern for his wife or any discussion was willing to leave for a work trip on Saturday evening. This left the wife very unhappy. This news was devastating enough for the mother of the newborn child.

The husband couldn’t get out of this situation. He couldn’t skip this trip since he had missed many trips in the past six months. In case he misses the trip this time, he might even lose his job. The wife wanted her husband to explain this situation (that he cannot miss the birth of his first child) to the boss. But the husband neglected and couldn’t care less about the whole situation. This left the mom-to-be concerned as she had to go alone for the whole process.

The husband gave a mediocre excuse to get out of the situation. The woman wanted her husband to be with her as a support to her as this will be her first time. To this, the husband without any hesitation made an excuse that she will be having a whole team of doctors. Nonetheless, the process was not a natural birth as she would be on anesthesia for the entire process.

The husband was ready to ask his mother or even the mother-in-law to stay while the process of C-section takes place. The wife insisted her husband to be there to see the first look of their newborn son. He defended himself by saying that this work trip could help him keep his job, and provide them financial assistance. Arguably, the wife would rather want him to stay with her this time than depart for the trip. This argument led to accusations and portraying that the wife was being selfish and the husband appalling.

The husband felt the coercion from his wife even though she knew about his work circumstances. This led to brawling and no apologies from any of them. People on Reddit thought that he might have some hidden agendas behind this work trip. This work trip could be a code word for a girlfriend and him being unfaithful. The husband must have known about the trip from the beginning and also while scheduling the delivery he could have taken a time off. Others disagreed, the man might be emotionally incompetent and using work as an excuse to exit from the whole situation.

Childbirth is an abundant and blissful time for the parents and the whole family. It is a stressful time for the mother and this situation demands support from her husband. When someone tries to give excuses to not be at the birth of their own child it seems a little shady. This situation would leave the wife sorrowful and heartbroken.
