Woman Bullied For Spending Her Money On Vacation Instead Of Giving It To Sister

One woman has recently found herself in a problematic situation with her family after her sister got pregnant and asked for financial help from her close ones. The anonymous woman said that her family members were upset with her for going on holidays instead of giving money to support her younger sister with the baby.

As such, they had started abusing her, but she was not so sure whether she was in the wrong, so she took on social media, asking people what they thought about the whole situation. In a post on Reddit, the 28-year-old from the US wrote that she loved reading, and about three times in a year she goes on a reading trip. She usually selected a city that she had never explored before and spent a week just reading in different, cute coffee shops.

She started this ritual during the times when she was in university. About once in every two years, she would go on a big trip to another country to do her thing and sight seed as well. Her trip to Paris last year has to be postponed and therefore she decided to go there in the coming year.

Her sister who lived with her parents eavesdropped on her having a conversation with her mother about the vacation over the phone and called her later. She lashed out at her about how she did not allow her to move in with her but could afford to go and enjoy all the luxurious vacations.

She went on explaining that how when her younger sister found out that she was pregnant, she had asked if she could live with her as it was difficult for her to manage the expenses of paying the rent and of the baby too.

The older sibling had said no to her request as she didn’t have an extra room and also wasn’t interested in having a newborn baby in her house as she works from home. It would be all noisy and her schedule would get disturbed.

She added that she wanted to be childfree and had no desire to take care of someone else’s baby. The younger sister was crying to her parents about how her older sister should at least help her with some money because she could afford it. The parents thought that she was arrogant for not giving her a helping hand at all and so did most of the family.

More than 700 people since answered her Reddit post, with many sharing messages of comfort- and others very fascinated by the prospects of reading holidays. One person replied that he shouldn’t be laughing at this situation, but he was not able to find her sister logical. Another said that he wouldn’t survive in a world where he couldn’t go on a vacation unless his siblings could afford the life they wanted.

A third person questioned the reading vacation and was shocked that he was not aware about it. Someone else added that she was not her younger sister’s parent. It was not her duty to provide housing to her sister and the newborn, even if she had money and space. It was her money, and she could do whatever she wanted.
