Pigeon Rescuer Spends A Fortune On Their Outfits Every Year
The 23-year-old, Meggy Johnson rescued two pigeons and nursed them both to health. When she rescued them, she hand-fed them with a tube around the clock. She did it until six weeks until they both become affectionate just like a pet. And these two pigeons are not the only birds she has.
She has other birds who live with the rescued pigeons in her pet supply store. All of them are living the life of luxury with toys to play with, a special stroller for evening strolls, and clothes. Meggy, from Lincolnshire, shared that: “They have their converted bedroom which is their space and they have all their little perches, toys and wardrobe. They live the life of luxury.”
She shared that their outfits are both practical and super cool as they help her to ensure that the house is clean as the pooches catch their poop. She shared that each of the outfit’s costs around $34-$40. She shared that every month she spends approximately $500 for their stuff and if she has to check it could be even more.
She further shared that: “We also celebrate their birthdays and ‘gotcha days’ of when they were rescued and I spoil them as you would any family member with lots of presents.” She discovered her love for birds when in 2016 her late dog discovered a nest in their hedge. Though one baby was dead she scooped the other one and rescued it.
With the help from authorities, she was able to save its life and after that, she has been saving a lot of birds. The rescued birds are names Sky and Moose. Sky was rescued in September 2019 and Moose was saved this year in May. She shared that “Moose was born with only one eye and we have no idea what caused that. It’s not safe for him to fly outside with only one eye, there are lots of birds of prey that could easily snatch him up.”
She shared about other birds that she rescued and have disabilities that make it hard for them to survive this world without help. One named Snowy came in with a neurological illness. Meggy shared that: “The illness made her have really bad balance and her head would spin around in circles so she couldn’t eat or drink herself for six months.” But now the case is different. She still wobbles her head but that is not permanent, it only happens sometimes and she has pulled herself through difficult times.
She shared what she further plans as a pigeon rescuer involves and she shared that “She wants to change the negative stereotype of pigeons and show that they are intelligent, sweet animals that make great pets and deserve to be given a chance at life.” She hates it when somebody calls them flying rats and want people to know that they are really sweet special birds.
