93-Year-Old Granddad Spent Lockdown Playing Racing Games On YouTube

Albeit driving cars in real was his profession, a grandad is now interested in playing racing sim games and has commemorated his past life in the best way possible. This is indeed proof that your potential to learn something new never gets old. The simulation video game has given him another chance to relive his moment. The videos posted by the grandson show how he’s driving cars like a pro.

Ryuji Urabe was a taxi driver in Tokyo in the 1960s, and he later switched to being a garbage truck driver in the 90s for about 20 years until he finally decided to retire and gave up his driving license. “He was a cab driver, a dump truck driver, and so on. He had lived his whole life with cars, but now he can’t drive anymore. So, I wanted to let him drive again. I bought the steering wheel controller for myself to play with, and it is why my grandfather started to play with it,” says his grandson, Koutaro Yamamoto.

During his first play, his grandson chose Mazda Savannah RX7 that he owned in the 1990s. Despite experiencing several differences between the virtual and the real one, he still seems to be good at driving it even if he had sold it 20 years ago. And when he had taken the seat, it was time to test all other luxury cars as well. From Lamborghini and Ferrari to domestic cars like Nissan GTR, he tried them all and had some of the great moments of his life.

Koutaro saw his grandad’s immense interest in driving these cars, the old school laptop didn’t seem to be much fulfilling. So, he has got an upgraded set up along with a huge flatscreen monitor for his grandfather. The old man’s skills have definitely caught the attention of viewers from all over the globe. The YouTuber has received numerous requests for more videos of his grandad playing the game and reconnecting with all his nostalgic events.

The first video came in January and has been watched more than 500,000 times and now, it’s also being shared on different social media platforms. Moreover, the granddad has also become a role model for one of the commentators and he also wants to live his life in the same way, once he gets old. Also, the 93-year-old man’s driving skills have received great applause on the Internet. Even companies have been watching him playing games, so they have been sending him neck cushions to ensure more comfort while he plays for long.

And with such good progress and appreciation, the grandad can even earn some bucks by driving cars even after his retirement.
